A medical scribe is an assistant to medical professionals that transcribes physician's notes and enters patient information into their medical record. In healthcare facilities that have converted from the old paper record system, medical scribes now do much of their work in an electronic health record (EHR) system, though some still manually record information in patient charts.
Medical Scribes must be discreet, tactful, and modest in performance of duties so as not to distract medical staff from patient care. Good judgment, organizational ability, initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to be self-motivated are especially important when working as a Medical Scribe.
VIRTUAL MEDICAL SCRIBE
Virtual scribes are steadily gaining popularity as an alternative to traditional medical scribes. Rather than joining the doctor onsite, virtual scribes listen into patient encounters via video conferencing or phone from an offsite location. This comes with a number of advantages over traditional medical scribes, including a smaller price tag, greater sense of privacy, and increased flexibility of service. However virtual scribes are not without shortcoming.

- GOOGLE GLASS – Physician wears a special glass, called Google Glass, which record the audio and video of the Doctor-Patient interaction. Physician wears the Google glass throughout the day. The medical Scribe, from the distant place, get all the information from the doctor-patient live interaction.
- REAL-TIME – The Doctor & patient interaction can be viewed by the medical scribe at the time of their consulting. So, the scribe can easily prepare and send the report at the end of the session. The Medical Scribe will be the partner of the physician/doctor for the whole day.
- EHR – After the interaction, the doctor & scribe unite to form a document called EHR, otherwise Electronic Health Record about the patient. EHR is nothing but a complete database of the patient so far. It includes the general information, laboratory test results, treatment history, details about drugs and even more.
